Indeed most are based on the very same chips and circuits used in your bed side clock radio.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Of course, back when HiFi didn&#8217;t contain a plethora of digital displays and micro controllers if you wanted to record a radio program you needed a mains timer switch. In practice I mainly use it as a clock and the main power switch for my system.
